FAQ: Leadership
  1. Who is in charge of OYR?

The members elect a Board consisting of twelve Directors at the general membership meeting in October. The Board then elects the President and other officers.

  2. What does it take to be an OYR leader?

Only one qualification: the desire to help carry on the League’s tradition of helping kids grow through youth baseball and softball.

  3. Are Board meetings open?

Yes. The Board schedules monthly meetings which are open to the membership. These are usually the first Wednesday of the month. We welcome the widest possible participation in managing the League.

  4. What leadership opportunities exist, in addition to coaching and the Board?

Many people contribute to the continuing success of OYR. Vital off-field work is carried out through a wide range of standing committees, which handle uniforms, snack stand, special events, communications, sponsorship, and so on. Volunteers are urgently needed to help in all these areas.

  5. How can busy people help?

Dividing and delegating the work through the committee system assures that no one gets too much of a load. Much of the work is flexible and can be done whenever convenient. Most of our leaders are active in other church, school and other organizations.

  6. I’d like to help, but I really don’t know that much about baseball or coaching.

That’s no problem. Volunteers with a wide variety of backgrounds help keep OYRLL going. Vital jobs such as fund-raising, snack stand coordination, and member communications call for general people skills, not baseball know-how.
